This page lists reports made to local and national authorities about the waste trucks and illegal tipping in Hoad’s Wood.  The more we speak to the local community, the more reports we find.  Given Hoad’s Woods legally protected status as a SSSI, why was no action taken to block off the site until 16 January 2024, despite ongoing reports of issues in the area from January 2020!  We are struggling to keep updating this page as the reports emerge but this gives you a feel for the frustration the local community and plot holders experienced in reporting to Ashford Borough Council, Kent Police, the Environment Agency and others. Remember, whilst you read this timeline, that all public authorities have a statutory duty under Section 28G of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 to preserve and enhance features of an SSSI like Hoad’s Wood:

RESIDENT ASKED TO PROVIDE GARDEN FOR POLICE DRONE LAUNCHES

Kent Police wanted permission to use the property's garden to launch surveillance drones for further observation and evidence gathering as the previous launch site had been compromised by the criminals. Resident agrees but remarks that, "It's a bit late for that now!"

EA TAKES ENFORCEMENT ACTION, BLOCKING ACCESS TO SITE

Environment Agency eventually take ENFORCEMENT ACTION after an area of 4 acres by over 12 feet deep of this ancient woodland is covered with processed domestic waste.
